Teach-Out Student ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø Process
- Apply online using our . (Note: A student who enrolled at Trinity as a freshman this fall (fall 2025) should complete the if interested in the spring 2026 semester start or the if interested in the summer or fall start.) All applications are free, require no essay, and can be completed quickly and easily from a mobile device!
- Students should request a "Records Release" from Trinity Christian College by completing the records release form on their website, .
- Students should log in to their FAFSA at and add ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø's school code, 001768, so we receive their results. Students interested in attending SXU this spring should update their 2025-26 FAFSA, and those interested in enrolling this fall should complete the 2026-27 FAFSA.
Special Education and Physical Education STudents
ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø does not offer degree programs in Special Education or Physical Education; however, both colleges have been working diligently to identify potential pathways for Trinity Christian College students who may seek to enroll at SXU. Because this work is ongoing, the information outlined below is subject to change.
In all potential pathway scenarios below, it is important to note that Special Education and Physical Education are not included in the TCC/SXU Teach-Out Agreement, as SXU does not currently offer these programs. Therefore, the degree-completion timelines for these students at SXU might differ from those at TCC. Despite these differences, SXU is committed to providing TCC students with options. As part of these options, SXU will match TCC's out-of-pocket net tuition and fee cost for Special Education and Physical Education students who pursue one of the potential pathways outlined below.
Potential Pathways
Potential Pathway #1: Pair an existing SXU education program with an LBS1 endorsement.
- SXU offers a Special Education (LBS1) endorsement that can be paired with one of our existing education programs: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Level Education, Secondary Education, and PK-12 Education.
- The LBS1 endorsement consists of four courses (one of which is already required within SXU education programs) and a special education content exam, which need to be completed in addition to the coursework needed to finish the program.
- This potential pathway requires students to change majors from Special Education to one of SXU’s existing education majors; therefore, the degree-completion timeline at SXU might differ from TCC.
- SXU will honor students’ out-of-pocket net tuition and fee costs for those who pursue this pathway.
Potential Pathway #2: (Available only for TCC Special Education students scheduled to student teach in fall 2026.) Complete an SXU Liberal Studies program and be entitled the LBS1 as an initial endorsement from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
- Eligible students can transfer to SXU's Liberal Studies major, provided the student has met the Liberal Studies program requirements or will meet requirements by the end of fall 2026.
- Students will declare a concentration in Education (24 credit hours), which is expected to be largely or fully satisfied through already completed TCC coursework. Students will also likely meet requirements for a Special Education minor at SXU, which will be added to their academic record.
- Qualifying students will proceed with student teaching in fall 2026.
- Successful students will earn the LBS1, entitled by ISBE after an evaluation and graduation.
Potential Pathway: SXU is developing a proposal to add Physical Education to its list of PK-12 education programs. Review and approval by the Illinois State Board of Education are required before the program can be offered. While SXU anticipates a decision in late spring, approval is not guaranteed.
- If ISBE approval is granted, TCC Physical Education students may enroll in Physical Education at SXU.
- Physical Education is not included in the TCC/SXU Teach-Out agreement; therefore, students' degree completion timelines at SXU might differ from their Trinity timeline.
- SXU will honor students out-of-pocket net tuition and fee costs for those who pursue this pathway.
